Ablation, a technique that treats irregular heartbeats would prove effective and may also beat the use of anti-arrhythmic drugs for such ailments.

This has been proved by a clinical trial of 12-months conducted on 112 patients. The trial has shown a 75% success rate in preventing arrhythmias in patients. These patients had failed at least on drug regimen as compared to the success rate of 6 percent patients who received drug therapy as the only treatment. The fact was further stamped by the data produced at a meeting of the heart Rhythm society in Boston.

A doctor inserts a thin flexible catheter into the heart during ablation. Energy in the process is delivered with the help of a special machine that reaches to various areas of the heart muscle.

This results in causing abnormal heart rhythm & disconnects that way.
