The rivalry between Symantec and Microsoft has taken a new turn finally. Symantec Corp sued Microsoft Corp recently and accused it of defalcating trade secrets & developing its own competing features & products. Microsoft’s latest version is windows.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court and it was full of charges against the world’s chief and largest software developer. The charges include misappropriating trade secrets and breach of contracts related to a licensing deal with Veritas, which Symantec acquired last year. Symantec also seeks prohibition of further development, sale or distribution of Vista- the new & delayed version of windows.

The injunction, according to Symantec Corp must also be imposed on other major products of Microsoft until all Symantec intellectual property is eliminated. Microsoft however said that it really tried hard to resolve the dispute.

The dispute is actually based on a Symantec product called Volume Manager. The product offers an access to the operating system to store & manipulate large amounts of data.

The complaint seeks compensation in conjunction with the elimination of the intellectual property from the company’s offerings.
