Vrooomm………….. It’s been three days and the 8th Auto Expo is going great guns. The crowd is in each pavilion is increasing wit each passing day.

The Auto Expo has been the glittering showcase of the Indian automobile and auto-component industry for the last 18 years. Each Auto Expo has revealed to the world, the rapid developments in the industry and has been the launching-pad for many new vehicles as well as new technology components.

The event is being organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), jointly with Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). It is playing host to around 1,000 participants from 26 countries and 100,000 business visitors.

There are a lot of new vehicles and technologies showcased that would hit the Indian roads in time to come. But one of the most striking technologies that are making a steady headway in the auto industry is Hybrid Technology.

Mahindra & Mahindra have showcased there Hybrid vehicles in this Auto Expo. (A hybrid car is a combination of electric-cum-diesel or petrol engine vehicle). A product that is expected to surpass all existing standards of fuel economy is about two years from a commercial launch.

A running model of this product is expected to be out in a year’s time. While conventional fossil fuels like diesel and petrol will run the engine at regular and high speeds, low speed and idling will be handled by electric power. The vehicle gives 15-16 km per liter delivering up to 600-700 km on one tank of fuel. The vehicle is propelled by using CRDe (common rail diesel engine) and an electric transaxle supported by a traction battery. This helps the vehicle to provide better fuel economy and lower transmission, while giving the benefit of a full hybrid performance.

So, get ready to say hi to greener world with a home grown Hybrid Car from Mahindra & Mahindra.
