Puja Lightings in Kolkata

Durga Puja in Kolkata is synonymous with lights and this year too the artists of Chandannagore create the most stunning light panels to decorate the city.

Kolkata pandals have been very imaginative creating not just traditional panels but rather extraordinary.

This famous College Square pandal in North Kolkata decided to take a walk on the wild side bringing to life animals in the form of light panels to don the entrance to the goddess’ abode.

“This kind of theme has never been done before. We wanted to try something different,” said Arun Dey, Puja Organiser.

The light panels most of them made by artisans from Chandennagore draw crowds as much as the idols made by the Kumartuli artisans.

From depicting animals to showing different tourist destinations in the country, the pandals in Kolkata have it all.

“It is pretty amazing. I have come here with my friends and we have been gazing at these panels in wonder,” said a local.

Durga Puja is also a festival of lights and Kolkata is making sure that the Goddess’ stay this year is brighter than ever before.
