From my personal diary on June. 2002
I have a dream of having lot of stuffs in my kitty, irrelevant I will earn money from them. Just thinking of a portal which will be industry specific and provide unique informations. I also like to forget my experience with allindiaexim akin Astlavista experience as well as indiamart’s. But what should I put in portal or on which subject should I develop a portal. Thats a big issue always in front of me. Some times I feel to create a general portal which will have hundred’s of product, will have a general B2B interface where I will provide directory listings, buyers and sellers post bla bla bla.
Huh.. I scrapped this rubbish plan. After all that is not an honest thing and not at all fit to my standards. I decided to go with my core strength (terms of knowledge) Steel and metals. Yes I can Analise the relevancies the data of this industry as I worked a lot in this field, almost more than 5 years of experience behind me, I have interactions with the key personalities and the companies in this field. I personally know my probable customers, I know what they think and what exactly they want to retain in this trade. I have already made a complete plan for this, get my thoughts documented and working on the feasibility and other analysis for this project. I bet this can be a life time project for any one in this industry. Think a portal dedicated to metal industry and provide every bit of informations and services related to metal industry???? WILL DEFINITELY A BIG HIT…
I like to share few features of my plan with you 
of-cource not the full but a basic overview:
1. My portal will be act as mediator between buyer and seller in different way. Not the user will pay and signup etc…, but will have a streamline of valuable informations which he is using in his day today business.
2. There will live rates of each and every metal and provide user mail alerts for free. I am using so many sites who are displaying there prices online as well as organizations like SAIL, TATA, LME, Jindal and many more will provide me the desired informations. Of-cource for this i have to work hard till my death.
3. Create a real time statistics zone which will carry the data history, Plan to have minimum 5 years of previous data.
4. Will run a live auction like Ebay only on metal products. This will be a very specific auction. ( Though some people call me fool that metal cannot be sold on Internet) Contacting good developers and also Alok will help me doing this.
5. Application wise metal informations, means which metal is used in which applications, gathering full details from different Govt. institutes.
6. Free directory on metal, this will be dedicated to this industry and each and every metal catagories will be covered.
7. Various types of alerts i.e. news alerts, price alerts, buy alerts through every means of communication system, i.e. Mail, SMS(BIG THING ) automated phone calls lot more….
At present only this much to share, watch out for more…… Presently I am busy with Data collections, Domain name search and lot other issues.
